- Precision Control Systems– Implement PID or model-predictive control algorithms for high-precision temperature control (±0.001 °C) in microfluidic reaction chambers.
- Microfluidic Integration– Collaborate with our biologists and fluidics engineers to embed droplet-generation, valving, and sensing sub-systems into the hardware architecture (preferred).
- IP & Documentation–Draft patent application documents(provisional, PCT, and CN invention patents); maintain detailed hardware design records, BOMs, and regulatory technical files.
- Cross-Border Collaboration– Communicate fluently in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) and English during technical reviews, vendor audits, and client deployments across the Greater Bay Area.
Requirements
Must-Have
- PhD in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Automation, or related field
- Fresh grad. PhD or equivalent industrial R&D experience
- Proven ability to bring an SoC-based product from schematic to production
- Expert-level C++ (modern C++11/14/17) under embedded Linux
- Deep familiarity with libcamera/V4L2 pipelines and Qt/QMLGUI frameworks
Preferred (Highly Valued)
- Hands-on experience with microfluidic hardware (3D printing, PCB-embedded heaters, piezo actuators, etc.)
- Track record in high-precision thermal management (PCR, qPCR, or chemical synthesis platforms)
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 / IVD instrument development cycles
- Prior filing of ≥2 invention patents as principal inventor
- GPU acceleration (CUDA) on Jetson platforms for real-time image analysis
We Offer
- Competitive salary package commensurate with doctoral expertise and patent track record.
- Direct ownership of hardware architecture decisions in a flat, founder-led R&D team.
- Opportunity to build a patent portfolio in precision diagnostics and microfluidic instrumentation.
- Greater Bay Area cross-border projects with exposure to Hong Kong–Shenzhen biotech ecosystems.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV, a list of patent publications (if any), and a brief technical portfolio (GitHub/ hardware photos / Qt project demos) to admin@rafaelbiotech.com
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a technical presentation in Shenzhen or Hong Kong within two weeks.

About the Role
We are seeking aSenior Technical Officer (博士级高级技术官) to drive our computational discovery platform at the intersection of materials physics, molecular simulation, and artificial intelligence. You will lead first-principles and coarse-grained modelling efforts to accelerate the design of novel biosensor interfaces, plasmonic nanostructures, and diagnostic assay architectures. This role combines deep scientific computing with modern AI/ML pipelines, all executed on institutional HPC infrastructure spanning the Greater Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Computational Materials & Biophysics– Perform ab initio electronic-structure calculations (Quantum Espresso), excited-state/plasmonic response modelling (Yambo), and classical molecular-dynamics simulations (Gromacs) to guide materials selection and surface-functionalisation strategies.
- Photonic & Electromagnetic Simulation– Design and optimise nanophotonic components (e.g., LSPR waveguides, microfluidic-integrated optical polarisers) using MEEP(FDTD) and related computational electrodynamics tools.
- HPC Infrastructure Stewardship – Administer and optimise our High-Performance Cluster environments (Slurm scheduling, MPI/OpenMP tuning, storage hierarchy, conda/containerised software stacks) to ensure secure, multi-user execution of large-scale DFT and MD workloads (preferred).
- AI-Driven Discovery – Develop and deploy deep-learning models (CNN, RNN, Transformer, LLM) for surrogate modelling of DFT energies, generative design of molecular candidates, or automated analysis of simulation trajectories and patent literature (preferred).
- Intellectual Property–Draft patent application documents(invention disclosures, PCT/CN claims, technical drawings) in both Chinese and English; translate complex simulation results into defensible IP assets.
- Cross-Border R&D Collaboration– Communicate fluently in Chinese and English during joint projects with Greater Bay Area partners; travel regularly between Shenzhen and Hong Kong for cluster access, and technical reviews.
