As the founder of Rafael Biotech Co., Ltd., I am deeply honored to represent Hong Kong's innovation-driven enterprises in participating in the "United Efforts, A Future of Innovation: 2026 Hong Kong and Macau Youth Tour to Zhejiang" event. My four-day, three-night visit to Hangzhou has made me keenly aware that the synergy between Hong Kong and Macau's innovative capabilities and Zhejiang's robust industrial ecosystem is entering its most promising phase.
A high-specification stage that showcases advanced technology.
On July 4, the launch ceremony was grandly held at the Academic Exchange Center of Hangzhou Future Science and Technology City. Liu Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Zhejiang Province, delivered a speech in person; Feng Yi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, presided over the event. Leaders from universities in Hong Kong and Macao, including Tung Kam-kwong, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Wei Bingjiang, President of Hong Kong Baptist University; and Song Yonghua, President of the University of Macau, all attended.
The opportunity to share insights with over 260 young scientific and technological innovators from 12 renowned universities in Hong Kong—including the University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology—as well as 106 high-quality innovation projects, is itself a rare moment that draws widespread attention.
Roadshow Highlights: Our "Fast, Efficient, Cost-effective" Solution Sparks Extensive Discussion.
During the "Qingchuang π Pair" roadshow session, I presented to representatives from over 100 innovation platforms, leading enterprises, and investment institutions in Zhejiang the groundbreaking SPR biosensing technology pioneered by Rafael Biotech.
Advantages: Capable of detecting over 100 targets per run, far exceeding the 32 targets achievable with existing SPR technologies;
Fast: The entire detection process is completed in 15 minutes, compared to the 60 minutes or more required by current methods;
High sensitivity: Amor achieves a sensitivity of 10⁻¹⁸ M, representing an improvement of six orders of magnitude;
Cost-effective: Titanium nitride consumables replace gold-based materials, reducing costs to just one-tenth of those for conventional SPR systems.
Following the roadshow, multiple investment institutions and official platforms such as the Hangzhou Transformation Center proactively reached out, demonstrating strong interest in implementing our technology. This experience has deeply impressed upon me that Zhejiang not only boasts a favorable business environment but also possesses a robust ecosystem for transforming cutting-edge technologies into industrial applications.
Synergy between Hong Kong and Hangzhou: A win-win innovation equation where 1+1>2.
As Governor Liu Jie stated, Zhejiang has consistently upheld the principle: "I provide the nurturing environment, while you focus on thriving development."Hong Kong boasts an international research perspective and original technological capabilities, while Zhejiang possesses robust manufacturing support, vast market potential, and efficient mechanisms for commercializing research outcomes—combining these strengths creates a synergistic effect where "one plus one exceeds two."
During the event, we conducted field visits to the Artificial Intelligence Town and the Life and Health Industry Park, establishing one-on-one partnerships with emerging entrepreneurs from Zhejiang. I witnessed the gathering of globally renowned pharmaceutical companies at Hangzhou Medical Port, observed the cutting-edge innovations at Zhijiang Laboratory, and was deeply impressed by Zhejiang's sincere invitation for young people from Hong Kong and Macao to "pursue, chase, and realize their dreams in Zhejiang."
A promising future: Rafael Biotech is committed to becoming the "bridgehead" for cooperation between Hong Kong and Hangzhou.
During this visit to Zhejiang, Rafael Biotech not only identified potential partners but also reinforced our dual-city strategy of "establishing technological roots in Hong Kong and implementing industrial projects in Zhejiang." We have already established a collaboration on group standards with the China Inspection and Testing Association, and look forward to leveraging Hangzhou as a hub to expand our biosensing technologies into broader markets.
As the tide surges along the Qiantang River, scientific innovation propels us toward far-reaching achievements. We look forward to using this event as a new starting point to unite with our partners in Zhejiang, seize the momentum, and ensure that the "innovation seeds" from Hong Kong and Macao take root and flourish on Zhejiang's fertile ground for scientific innovation, jointly writing a new chapter in China's modernization drive!
